What is a school shooting?

A school shooting is a shooting in a school (obviously) by a student, personal members, teachers or sometimes someone who is exterior of the school. These shooters usually don’t have only one target, their goal being to kill a maximum of persons. These shootings make debates about school disciplin and of course about weapons and guns accessibility.

According to a study of the United States Secret Services, there is not a specific type of shooter. They are all really different and they plan in advance their crime. They buy guns and sometimes they explain to others what they are going to do. Another study published in Journal of Child and Family Studies in 2018 says that 60% of shootings were made in the twentieth century by teenagers from eleven to eighteen years and 77% since year 2000.

The fact that these shootings are so frequent in the USA compared to other countries shows that the laws which allow almost everyone to own weapons and guns make murder a lot easier than in other countries. It sees like people in the USA don’t see the worth of life like we are used to see. Guns give bad and dangerous power to the person who owns them.

Sometimes signs are not taken seriously too. Some school shooters, like I said, explain to other people what they are planning and these people maybe think it’s a joke. I feel like every kid or teenager should have a psychological support to prevent these types of behaviours and ideas. Maybe the signs would be taken more seriously and shootings would be avoid.
